Root Canals
Should the nerve of a tooth become infected due to a deep cavity, filling or crack, significant discomfort results due to the infection and if untreated the area may develop an abscess. A root canal is the best treatment as it prevents requiring extracting the tooth. Saving a natural tooth prevents having to have the tooth replaced. Most root canal treated teeth are strengthened with a crown following the procedure so as to prevent infection recurrence and extend the life span of the tooth.
